We started at 4 o'clock in the morning at the camping site in Pont. 2 hours later we reached the Rifugio Emanuelle II. After a short warm up we continued out ascent to the Gran Paradiso main summit (that's behind the madonna sculpture). The last step to the summit is to climb four meters in the second degree (UIAA) on the other (east) side. Finally we arrived at 10:30 at the summit and had a fantastic view to Mont Blanc, Gran Combin, Dent Blanche, Weisshorn, Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. After one nice and cold hour in 4000 meters we descended back to Pont. Luckily we were good acclimated and had no problems with the height and the condition of climbing 2100 meters on one day.
